On a personal note, the impact the author has had in my life can be summed up as a mentorship. As a new believer, she would serve as an advocate to promote my growth, as a promoter to encourage when needed encouragement and also as a mentor to provide guidance, resources or just to lend an ear. In this world that offers so many trials and tribulations it is important to have a warrior that has endured to help us through our journey. One of the most powerful shifts I experienced was being exposed to the Bible more consistently. Brenda didn’t just tell me to have faith she showed me how to build it. She helped me understand that the battles we face aren’t just emotional or mental, but spiritual. REDEEMED by Brenda Patricia Ibañez is a memoir about the author’s journey from a life of death to one of redemption, transformation, and supernatural spiritual gifts. She recounts a childhood marked by neglect and abuse, including sexual assault at ages five, seven, nine, and a rape at seventeen. As an adult, these traumas led to rebellion, alcoholism, drug use, and a life of closeted homosexuality and pain, with multiple suicide attempts. The author’s struggles culminated in a prison sentence that ultimately saved her life. While incarcerated, she began to find healing and faith.
